Medicare Payment Impact Modeling

IHA Medicare Payment Impact Modeling provides Iowa hospitals with impact analysis of Medicare payment policy changes.  Each year the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) make a number of changes to how hospitals are reimbursed under the Medicare program through the regulatory process.  The impact reports provide hospitals with quick and easy to understand analyses of proposed and final regulatory changes that assist hospitals in planning and preparing both operationally and financially.

IHA also provides impact reports of potential and adopted statutory changes to Medicare payment policy.  While also assisting hospitals in the planning and preparation stages, these reports serve as an invaluable advocacy tool in illustration to Iowa’s Congressional Delegation the impact of legislation.

IHA provides the following regulatory impact reports on the following Medicare Prospective Payment Systems:

  • Hospital Inpatient
  • Hospital Outpatient
  • Skilled Nursing Facility
  • Home Health
  • Inpatient Psychiatric Facility
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility

In addition to providing payment impact reports, IHA provides each hospital with its Medicare cost report data as reported by the CMS Healthcare Cost Report Information System (HCRIS).  IHA receives updated HCRIS data on a quarterly basis as cost reports are submitted to CMS throughout the year.  This data is the source for illustrating payment changes for the many tools IHA provides to Iowa hospitals.

Included with the HCRIS reports is a summary page highlighting important financial and statistical information regarding your hospital.  The summary provides a quick and accessible tool that can be used in sharing information about the hospital with staff and the community.
