The Iowa Hospital Association’s Hospital Board Assessment measures and benchmarks a hospital board’s performance.

The program has two sections, the main section being the board assessment. This section allows each board member to answer a set of customizable questions about the board. This section gives the board a better understanding of its strengths and weaknesses. It also provides benchmarking information against peers and the rest of the state.

The second section of the program is a personal evaluation. This is designed to give each board member a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses as a contributing member. The personal section will not have benchmarking information; all board members' data results are weighted averages. This will give the board a better understanding of how the group collectively feels about their contributions. For the best results, IHA recommends using the program once a year.
