The 2023 Iowa Trauma Coordinators Spring Conference will prepare trauma coordinators to effectively care for patients and improve hospital trauma programs. Using real-life field experience as a backdrop, representatives from the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner, University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa will discuss firearm injuries, whole blood transfusions and field amputations.
Other discussion topics include:
- Building a pediatrics readiness program using the Iowa Pediatric Emergency Assessment and Care program.
- Preparing for trauma care verification.
- Using canine crisis-response teams and the opportunity to meet response dogs and their handlers.
