IHA 2017 Call for Presentations Guidelines

Submitting Presentations: Presentations can be submitted using this Survey Monkey link.

Submission Criteria

A separate form must be completed for each presentation you would like to be considered. IHA suggests having the below information prepared on another Word document so the information can be easily copied and pasted into the survey. Note that the text boxes do not expand to allow you to review what you have submitted.

Main Contact: This should reflect the best person IHA can contact with presentation selection or additional questions. Full contact information is required.

Lead Presenter: This should reflect the sole presenter or the presenter acting as the lead in a group presentation. Full contact information is required.

  • Lead Presenter Organization Type: Identify what best describes your relationship to IHA.

  • Lead Presenter Biography: This should be 200 words or less. Please use complete sentences in paragraph form. If the proposal is selected, this paragraph will be used in the conference marketing materials to describe the presentation to potential attendees.

Additional Presenter(s): This should reflect any additional presenters. Full contact information is required.

  • Additional Presenter(s) Organization Type: Identify what best describes your relationship to IHA.

  • Additional Presenter(s) Biography: This should be 200 words or less. Please use complete sentences in paragraph form. If the proposal is selected, this paragraph will be used in the conference marketing materials to describe the presentation to potential attendees.

Format: This should reflect your desired format (lecture, hands-on workshop, panel discussion, live or recorded webinar). Note that IHA may be interested in the presentation but require changes to its format.

Length: This should reflect your desired length to present your information. Note that IHA may be interested in the presentation but require changes to its length.

Title: This should clearly reflect the topic or content area.

Description: Clearly and concisely describe in 500 words or less the content of the presentation. If the proposal is selected, this paragraph will be used in conference marketing materials to describe the presentation to potential attendees. IHA may request additional details from the submitter prior to selecting this session.

IHA is particularly interested in presentations in the following topic areas in 2017:

  • Collaborative partnerships to improve the health of people and places in the community
  • Managing behavioral health patients in the emergency department and in the community
  • Optimizing the use of telehealth
  • Engaging patients in their care
  • Physician leadership and team training
  • Workforce recruitment and retention; strategies addressing burnout and building resiliency
  • Promoting health care careers to youth
  • Health care payment and reimbursement for leaders new to health care
  • Data analysis; turning data into information
  • Effective responses to consumer demand for price and quality information
  • Updates and impact analysis of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services policies and regulations including:
    • Proposal to institute “site-neutral” payment policies
    • New requirements surrounding patient notification of observation/outpatient status
    • Payment programs (re-admissions, hospital acquired infections, value-based purchasing)
    • Ongoing demonstration projects (e.g., the comprehensive joint replacement program)
    • 340B final guidance
    • Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act

Learning Objectives: A minimum of three learning objectives must be submitted for each presentation. These need to be written in complete sentences using verbs that are observable and measurable (understand, compare, enhance, define). They should complete the sentence, “At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to…”

Target Audience: This should reflect who you consider your primary audience for this presentation.

Specific IHA Events: This should reflect any specific IHA events you are interested in presenting this presentation. Note that IHA may find that your presentation is a better fit for a different event.

Conflicts of Interest: Please identify any conflicts or perceived conflicts of interest any presenter may have.

Disclosure: Note that by submitting a proposal, you are agreeing to waive your right to be reimbursed by IHA for any speaker’s fees and for any speaker travel expenses that may be incurred and normally collected by your organization in the process of presenting the proposed education.
